Pogba Lands in Monaco After Doping Suspension
Paul Pogba has officially signed with AS Monaco on a free transfer, the Ligue 1 team announced Saturday. The 32-year-old French midfielder aims to rejuvenate his career after serving a doping ban.
Sources confirm that Pogba inked a two-year contract with Monaco, declining a more financially rewarding offer from a Saudi Pro League club.
The World Cup-winning midfielder last played a competitive match in September 2023 for Juventus.
Pogba received a four-year doping ban in February 2024 after testing positive for DHEA, a substance known to elevate testosterone levels. Following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the suspension was reduced to 18 months.
Juventus, the Italian club, revealed in November that they had reached a mutual agreement to end his contract, initially set to expire in June 2026.
While previously rumored to be considering moves to MLS and the Saudi Pro League, Pogba will now resume his playing career in France.
Although Pogba developed through Le Havre's academy, he has never competed professionally in France. His club career has been divided between periods at Manchester United and Juventus.
