Oman on Tuesday announced a second-string squad for the Asia Cup, featuring four uncapped players — Sufyan Yousuf, Zikria Islam, Faisal Shah and Nadeem Khan. Several senior names, including former captain Zeeshan Maqsood, Khawar Ali, Bilal Khan, Fayyaz Butt and Kaleemullah, were left out. The side will instead be led by their most-capped player, Jatinder Singh.
Born in Ludhiana, Punjab, in 1989, Jatinder Singh made his T20 International debut for Oman in 2015 before stepping into One Day Internationals in April 2019, when Oman secured ODI status.
In ODIs, he has scored 1,704 runs at an average of 29.37, with four centuries and nine half-centuries. His career-best performance came against Papua New Guinea in April 2022, when he struck an unbeaten 118 — the highest individual ODI score by an Omani batter.

In T20Is, Jatinder has featured in 64 matches, amassing 1,399 runs at a strike rate of 118.55, underlining his impact in the shorter format.
While Zeeshan Maqsood has captained Oman in most matches, Jatinder Singh also features amongst the team’s leaders, having led the side in 12 ODIs and 11 T20Is since 2024.
Although Oman are yet to feature in an ODI World Cup, they have appeared in two T20 World Cups — in 2016 and 2021. Across five matches in the tournament, Jatinder scored 162 runs at an impressive average of 40.50.
Back in 2016, he also represented Oman in the Asia Cup Qualifiers, playing three matches, though the team fell short of reaching the main tournament.
In the 2025 edition, Oman are scheduled to begin their campaign on Friday, September 12 against Salman Ali Agha’s Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Jatinder Singh (capt), Hammad Mirza, Vinayak Shukla, Sufyan Yousuf, Ashish Odedara, Aamir Kaleem, Mohammed Nadeem, Sufyan Mehmood, Aryan Bisht, Karan Sonavale, Zikriya Islam, Hassnain Shah, Faisal Shah, Muhammed Imran, Nadeem Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Samay Shrivastava.
