India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been nominated as the ICC Player of the Month for August 2025 for his terrific performance in England. Along with him, New Zealand seamer Matt Henry, West Indies’ Jayden Seales have also been shortlisted in the men’s category.
Siraj was adjudged Player of the Match for guiding India to a thrilling six-run victory on Day 5 of the fifth Test against England at the Oval. The speedster registered his fifth five-wicket haul in Tests, registering figures of 5/104 and helped India successfully defend the target of 374 runs to seal their narrowest victory in Test history. He also registered his career-best figures in a Test match of 9/190 as India levelled the series 2-2.
He finished as the highest wicket-taker of the five-match series with 23 wickets from nine innings with two five-wicket hauls to his name. On the other hand, Jayden Seales was the highest wicket taker for West Indies in their historic 2-1 ODI series win over Pakistan, their first since 1991. The right-arm speedster scalped 10 wickets from three innings at an average of 10 and an economy of 4.10.
He registered his best bowling figures in ODIs of 6/18 in the series-decider third fixture, which helped his team bundle out Pakistan for 92 and win by 202 runs. Matt Henry was also adjudged as the Player of the Series in New Zealand’s 2-0 series win over Zimbabwe. The 33-year-old registered match figures of 9/90 and 7/56 as his team won the two Tests in Bulawayo by massive margins.
Meanwhile, Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Muneeba Ali, Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast and Netherlands bowler Iris Zwilling have been also shortlisted in the women’s category for Player of the Month. The winners of the award will be unveiled following votes by the ICC Voting Academy, which includes a long list of former cricketers from all around the globe. Fans can also cast their vote on the ICC’s official website.
