MS Dhoni has done just about everything on a cricket field, masterminded chases, stayed cool under fire, and even walked away with three ICC trophies. But now, the former India skipper has turned heads for something very different: wielding guns in an action-packed teaser alongside Bollywood star R Madhavan.
What came as a big surprise on August 7, Madhavan surprised fans by dropping the clip of his upcoming project The Chase, directed by Vasan Bala. The teaser shows both Madhavan and Dhoni dressed in tactical black gear, complete with bulletproof vests and sunglasses, stepping into character as officers on a high-stakes mission. The sight of “Captain Cool” in an action sequence sent social media into overdrive, with fans already dubbing it Dhoni’s big-screen debut.
Madhavan amped up the buzz with a short but punchy caption: “One mission. Two fighters. Buckle up – a wild, explosive chase begins. The Chase – teaser out now. Directed by Vasan Bala. Coming soon.” With no details revealed about whether it’s a film, a series, or a special project, the air of mystery is only adding to the hype.
Dhoni remains one of India’s most celebrated captains, the only one to lift all three major ICC trophies — the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. In June this year, he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, joining an elite group of cricketers.
Dhoni’s life has already made the round in Bollywood through the 2016 hit MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, with the late Sushant Singh Rajput portraying the cricketer.
Madhavan, meanwhile, is juggling multiple big-ticket projects. Beyond The Chase, he will also be seen in Dhurandhar, directed by Uri filmmaker Aditya Dhar, alongside Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna.
Whether Dhoni’s appearance is a cameo, a full role, or just a fun experiment, the teaser has done its job — sparking excitement, endless theories, and a lot of rewatches.
