In a recent interview, Aamir Khan recounted a chilling encounter from the height of his career: an invitation to a party hosted by members of the underworld in Dubai. The actor revealed that he declined the offer, despite attempts to sway him with money and promises of favors.
During the 1980s and 90s, the Indian film industry, Bollywood, was heavily influenced by powerful gangsters. Aamir Khan, who rose to prominence with the success of 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' in 1988, became a target for these figures.
Khan shared his experience with The Lallantop, explaining that he received an invitation to an exclusive gathering in Dubai. "Some people from the underworld had visited me to invite me to the party," he stated, declining to reveal any names.
The actor further disclosed that the underworld figures persisted in their attempts to persuade him. "They tried a lot. They offered me money and offered to get any work done of my choosing," Aamir said. When he continued to refuse, their tone shifted. "They quickly changed their tone and said I’d have to come now because my presence had already been announced, and it was a prestige issue."
Unfazed, Aamir Khan remained resolute. He recalled telling them, "You’ve been meeting for a month and I’ve been telling you right from the start that I wouldn’t come... you can bash me up, hit me on the head, tie my hands and legs, and take me forcibly wherever you want, but I wouldn’t come on my own." Following this firm stance, the contact ceased.
The actor confessed that he was deeply concerned for the safety of his family. "I had two small kids then. My parents were very concerned. They said, ‘What are you doing? They’re very dangerous.’" His priority was clear: "I want to live my life the way I want. I don’t want to go there. I was more concerned for the ones close to me."
At the time of the incident, Aamir Khan was married to Reena Dutta, and they had two children, Junaid and Ira. This revelation highlights the actor's unwavering commitment to protecting his family, even when faced with intimidation from powerful and dangerous individuals.
